We recently designed the next two issues of Leap Rounds, a bi-annual newsletter that serves as an extension of Leap Magazine. Each issue focuses on a key doctor or researcher of Johns Hopkins Medicine Division of Rheumatology. The fall issue features Dr. Baer, an expert on Sjogren’s Disease and the winter issue features Dr. Christopher-Stine, director of the Johns Hopkins Myositis Center.

The fall 2021 issue of Pathways Magazine features Howard Community College’s outgoing president, Kate Hetherington, and her lasting legacy after leading the College for 14 years. Also included is a profile on a member of Howard P.R.I.D.E., and a service story on HCC’s dental hygiene program.
When UMN’s School of Public Health contacted us to refresh their alumni magazine, we recommended three essential changes: (1) develop a clear editorial hierarchy throughout the magazine, (2) divide the magazine into distinct sections that include recurring themes and departments, and (3) limit feature stories to two or three, opening each one with unique artwork and typography to distinguish these longer stories from other sections of the magazine.
The Fall 2021 issue of University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management Magazine features “Beyond Bitcoin”: a story on blockchain, the transactional platform that runs cryptocurrency. A second feature focuses on how corporate human resource leaders are reimagining the future of work. Profiles include an economist that takes a multi-view approach and an alum that uses travel as a catalyst for creative work. Cover story illustrations by Adam Simpson.
The fall 2021 issue of NURSING FOR/UM, the alumni magazine of the University of Maryland School of Nursing, features “The Gen Z Nurse”: the youngest nurses entering the workforce and members of the most diverse, well-educated, and politically active generation in human history. Other stories include “The Human Touch”: nurse researchers who work with human subjects to advance health care and improve outcomes” and “Impact: Getting Physical as We Age.”
Another admissions piece we’ve completed for York College of Pennsylvania is their value proposition: the quality of a private college at the cost of a public institution. The brochure is multi-paneled with a unique foldover cover.
In our ongoing admissions work with York College of Pennsylvania, we recently designed a multi-panel college fair brochure with a unique fold over cover. This piece gives a broad overview of the College for high school students who may be encountering YCP for the first time.
We recently completed another issue of Bloom, Bryn Mawr’s admissions magazine. It’s a fun, interactive publication, geared to kids, that provides a fresh look at the school’s current students, programs and activities.
The cover story, All in a Day, follows a senior hour-by-hour through her day. Other stories include What Are Your School Year Goals, Teachers Who Inspire, Make New Friends and Speak Your Mind.
The summer 2021 issue of York College Magazine is focused on the theme of “Purpose.” The cover story, “The Cobot Co-Worker,” exemplifies learning with purpose, featuring a York student who is gaining valuable industry experience working with collaborative robots, or “cobots,” robots that streamline automation. A second story covers the purposeful career of Judge Cook ’81, the first female in many areas of her field.
The University & College Designers Association (UCDA) Design Competition recognizes the best of the exceptional design work done by communication professionals to promote educational institutions. Out of 632 entries, 210 awards were given:
