Redesign: York College of Pennsylvania Admissions Viewbook

When York College of Pennsylvania adopted a new brand platform, they asked us to redesign their admissions materials to reinforce their brand story. Beginning with a new viewbook to set the tone, we redesigned a series of pieces targeted to high school Sophomore, Junior, and Senior prospects.

The viewbook cover makes a bold statement: See Your Education Differently. From day one, YCP challenges students to put their ideas into action, providing support and opportunities along the way, ultimately mentoring them to see their future without limits.

In discussions with York’s Enrollment Communications office, along with content strategist and writer Andrea Jarrell, we determined that the viewbook should be reorganized into three sections: student stories, the college experience, and a call to action.

The Student Experience.
Bring your why. We’ll show you how.

The first section describes York’s five academic divisions — nursing; business; the arts, communication and global studies; engineering, sciences and technology; and behavioral sciences and education. Each division is introduced by a brief testimonial from a student in that discipline, along with statistics and highlights of the programs.

Learning happens when you start to make your way in the world, and it happens quick. It starts when you have the chance each and every day to put your ideas into action. That’s when the life you imagine starts to get real. It’s about not waiting. It’s about doing. Here. Now. In every moment.

Without Limits.
The experiences, experts, essentials, and extras that matter.

Section two describes the overall college experience — planning four years at YCP, learning from professors who mentor, getting firsthand experience through internships and project-based learning, creating an on-campus community, building a dream career, exploring downtown York, and making the most of YCP resources.

Spartans Do.
Don’t Just Dream It. Do It.

Alumni map out their 4-year experience in four fold-out panels, each anchored with an illustrated headshot. The profiles are filled with helpful advice to prospective students on how to maximize their time at YCP.

“What I love about York is that it is a small community full of unlimited resources.”

— Cassie Miller, Marketing Major

Central Perk.
Mapping the York advantage.

Co-ops, internships, practicums, research—when YCP says it will put student’s educations to work before they even graduate, they mean it, and we wanted to show it. By mapping out the job experiences students have had in York and beyond, from New York to D.C., we were able to show at-a-glance that YCP is a hub for future career opportunities.

The new branding carries through to the mailing envelope, wrapping from front to back in York’s primary brand colors.

The York College viewbook won silver in the annual Educational Advertising Awards. Entries were received from over 2,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools in all fifty states and several foreign countries.
