Redesigned: York College of Pennsylvania Alumni Magazine
We were introduced to York College of Pennsylvania in 2015 when we designed their admissions publications and coordinated on-campus photography. The York editorial team took notice and commissioned a magazine redesign with the intention of responding to a reader’s survey, giving the magazine a visual identity that better reflects the college’s brand guidelines, and celebrating their 50th anniversary.

Field Notes: Art Directing Portrait Photography
In our work for educational institutions, both editorial and marketing materials depend on telling stories. Most stories revolve around students, faculty, alumni or benefactors. When these people are featured, the “right” photographer is commissioned, one who knows how to use art direction creatively, one who can achieve an original visual interpretation of the story.
Johns Hopkins Carey Business School Magazine
The Spring 2018 issue of Carey Business considers Cryptocurrency – is it the money of the future or is it a fraud? Other stories include profiles of alumni working in the world of professional athletics and a perspective on the #MeToo movement. Cryptocurrency illustrations by Michael Waraksa.
University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business Magazine
The spring issue of Mendoza Business, the alumni magazine of the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, focuses on artificial intelligence and questions of faith. Titled “Siri, Should I Believe in God,” the cover story tackles whether digital assistants are capable of answering complex metaphysical questions.
Other features include: the green energy investment boom; business schools preparing future managers to address sexual harassment in the workplace; an alumna who traded the corporate fast track for full-time caregiving; and travel tips from Mendoza’s globe-trotting associate director of student services.
Studio Super Graphics!
Our new studio and identity continue to evolve! The latest addition: a s-s-s-s-s-super graphic along our 20-foot long worktable. From typefaces America to Ziggurat, over 40 individually cut “S” letterforms wrap the base.
Redesigned: Johns Hopkins Medicine Philanthropy Institute
We recently redesigned the Johns Hopkins Medicine Philanthropy Institute (JHMPI) website, having originally conceived the site in 2016.
The goal of the redesign was to streamline navigation, simplify content, and refresh visuals to reinforce JHMPI’s strengths in leadership, professionalism, and training, and increase enrollment in the JHMPI Summer Institute.
Our sustained relationship with JHMPI allows us to analyze data and make suggestions for improvement year to year, ensuring that JHMPI reaches its desired audience in the most effective ways.
