We just completed the most recent addition to York College’s admissions materials: the first in a series of mini-viewbooks for academic divisions.
St. John’s College Alumni Magazine
Confucius appears on the Fall 2017 cover of The College, the alumni magazine of St. John’s College, to highlight the 50th anniversary of their Graduate Institute and its Eastern Classics program. Like the “great books” in the St. John’s undergraduate program, eastern authors provide “a way of seeing how the human mind responds to universal problems and universal questions.” Illustration by Harriet Lee-Merrion.

Changing Business
The Fall 2017 issue of Changing Business, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School’s research journal, leads with a story about how organizations handle adversity. Parallels are drawn between backwoods team expeditions and corporate team management. In both instances, success comes when no team member is left behind. Other features include a link between congestion tax and improved respiratory health among children, the domino effect regulations can have on neighboring industries, and the need for improved business training for med students. Illustrations in this issue are by Mike McQuade.
Redesigned: University of Maryland School of Nursing Magazine
The University of Maryland’s School of Nursing magazine focuses on people – those they educate and those they help. We gave the publication a modern, humanistic look that accurately represents today’s nurses in the field, with an eye toward an open, accessible content structure and layout.
The Campaign for WGBH
We recently designed a modular case statement for WGBH, the public television and radio station in Boston, in collaboration with Robert Gray Writing and Editing. The case statement included an overview booklet, six supporting booklets, and campaign letterhead. A campaign pocket folder completed the system, allowing WGBH to deliver a customized case statement to prospective donors.
UCDA Winner x 4!
We submitted four of our favorite projects from 2016 in this year’s UCDA (University & College Designers Association) competition. All four entries have been given Awards of Excellence and will be included in this year’s exhibition. The show will be on display at the UCDA Design Conference, October 7—10 in Baltimore, Maryland.
A wide range of talent was represented among the entries, and the judges evaluated 1,269 entries, awarding 204 awards — 6 Gold Awards, 11 Silver Awards, and 187 Awards of Excellence. You can view the full winner's list here.
Congratulations to Baltimore Collegetown, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and McDaniel College.

The inside front cover features a photo by Allen Chester from the upcoming exhibition “Visions of the Circus,” opening on campus at the Rice Gallery.
