The current two issues of Leap Rounds, the bi-annual newsletters associated with Leap Magazine, profile researchers at Johns Hopkins Medicine Division of Rheumatology. The fall 2023 issue features Dr. Albayda’s work using ultrasound to estimate muscle quality and pinpoint locations for muscle biopsy. The winter issue features Dr. Cappelli’s research into the delicate balance of rheumatic inflammation during cancer treatment.

Ashley Rock Wylie, shown on the cover of the Fall 2023 issue of NURSING FOR/UM, the alumni magazine of the University of Maryland’s School of Nursing, is a multitasker/entrepreneur. A UMSON alum, she not only works for the JACQUES Initiative, supporting patients and communities affected by HIV and Hepatitis C virus, and as nurse manager of infectious diseases at the UM Medical Center, but she is also owner and chief operating officer of Fleurs d’Ave Floral Boutique in West Baltimore.

The Summer 2023 issue of Impact magazine, for Weill Cornell Medicine, focuses on an ambitious research program that could hold clues to improving the health of women and their children across their lifespans. A second feature, Caught on Camera, reports on recordings made in Dr. Simon Scheuring’s lab that reveal how elusive molecules embedded in cell membranes get their jobs done – for good and ill. Also included in this issue is a conversation with alumnus Dr. Anthony Fauci about the future of public health and more.
